ACM contributed to a significant development in the capacity building of museum facilities and staff expertise in 2006, with the successful completion of the Danzanravjaa Preservation Project.
Danzanravjaa Museum Preservation project
The ACM successfully implemented the Danzanravjaa Museum Preservation Project during July 2005 - August 2006 with generous support from the American Embassy in Mongolia, successfully meeting the aims to provide museum storage facilities and conduct trainings on museum collection maintenance. The project was aimed to build the capacity of museum staff and to provide appropriate archival facilities in order to preserve unique heritage riches of Danzanravjaa, one of the main representatives of Mongolian art, philosophy and Buddhism and was implemented in three phases including preparation, training and placement...more.
Tumen Ekh Tour in North America

ACM joins SEAL of
UNESCO
ACM took part in
the Sub-regional Workshop
on UNESCO Introduction of
Seal of Excellence for Handicraft
Products in East Asia , held
in UB during 24-26 October,
2005.
The workshop objectives were
to discuss on developing a
framework for the SEAL Asia
and to introduce the SEAL
into East Asia . Upon the
request of UNESCO, the ACM
joins the SEAL Programme in
East Asia. The program is
aimed to preserve the traditions
of handicraft, to support
the craftsmen in line with
the current and upcoming situation
of society, culture, environment
and ecology, to select and
promote the best works of

“My culture” project
in Khovd province
ACM-US,
a sister organization to ACM,
does tax-deductible fundraising
in the US to support Mongolian
arts and culture. Recently
ACM-US Board announced to
award ACM with grants totaling
US $ 30 000. These grant-winning
projects are 2 cultural heritage
projects My culture and Museums in the region and arts education project Artsplus .
My culture
The My culture project
aims to preserve the unique
musical traditions of Khovd
province by running folk music
training for kids in collaboration
with the Khovd Music and Drama
Theatre. The first stage of
the project, the curriculum
development, has started in
November, 2005 and the following
stages will be the training
of the trainers, repairing
and equipping the training
rooms and the training for
children.
Museum development
project in rural areas
Regional museum development
project is aimed to support
museums as heritage preservation
site and to develop museums
into heritage education venue
to deliver knowledge on Mongolian
history and culture through
arts.
Two day training in
Khovd province
The ACM devised an after
school folk music project
in Khovd province aiming to
preserve and promote intangible
folk music heritage of the
area to younger generations.
In the preparatory part of
the project, specially developed
curriculums were developed,
which will also encourage
children's creative thinking
and problem solving skills.
On March 3-4, ACM facilitated
a two day training on secondary
school music education standards.
During the training, which
involved 25 music teachers
from all soums of Khovd province,
the selection of the trainers
for the after school folk
music training. The selected
trainers are two teachers
of secondary schools in Khovd
and two artists of Khovd Music
and Drama Theater and they
took part in the curriculum
development workshop. The
actual training for kids will
start in September, 2006 when
the academic year starts. |
