International Promotion: Tokyo Performing Arts Market (TPAM)
One of the main priorities of ACM in 2007 is to increase the international promotion of Mongolian performing arts. This goal forms part a long-range plan by the ACM to increase the international awareness of the unique and dynamic nature of Mongolian performing artistic practice. The first step towards encouraging this growth was the ACM participation in the Tokyo Performing Arts Market (TPAM), which was held in Tokyo from March 5th to 8th, 2007.
The Tokyo Performing Arts Market is a biannual market of performing arts such as music, theatre and dance, a showcase of presentations, booth exhibitions, visual presentations, performances and conference discussion. It draws the attention of producers, managers, festival directors, artists and other performing arts industry members from across the world, which makes the market a potential event for international innovative collaborations.
The ACM delegation set up a booth exhibition to reach the largest number of market delegates and introduced a rich selection of promotional and audio/visual presentations on Mongolian arts and artists. As a result of participating in TPAM 2007, ACM has worked on two follow-up international projects: the Red Sky Performance joint dance production project, and Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie’s performances in Ulaanbaatar and Zuunmod.
