ACM’s Artist Development Program works to support Mongolian arts and cultural institutions, individual artists and cultural workers to realize their innovative, creative projects. In addition, the program seeks to assist them to develop and achieve sustainability in their arts practice through an annual grants program and to raise awareness of the national and international resources available to support Mongolian arts and artists
Khan Bank Theater Marketing Survey
Khan Bank bought the old theater known as the Children’s Theater of Mongolia in 2006 and has remodeled it into a new head office and bank branch. After the acquisition of the building, the Khan Bank administration decided to use the theater as a multipurpose venue for arts and culture performances, meetings, conferences and public events. For this matter, Khan Bank approached ACM to collaborate with them on a marketing survey for the multipurpose use of the theater space. ACM accepted the approach and has hired independent expert Mrs. Sh. Otgonjargal, who is a representative of Canada’s Cirque du Soleil in Mongolia and a professional actress. On behalf of ACM, Mrs. Otgonjargal has completed an initial survey as requested by Khan Bank .
Art Collection Project
ACM and METAA Co., Ltd of Korea joined forces to establish the Sunjin Grand Hotel’s art collection in spring 2007. The project provided opportunities for new artistic endeavours by commissioning major artworks from leading young artists and displaying the present and future of Mongolian art in a major hotel space, while simultaneously supporting the Mongolian artist community.
Through this project, 33 art works by 15 young artists were commissioned and placed at the Sunjin Grand Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Red Ger Gallery
ACM’s Red Ger Gallery was founded to promote Mongolian fine arts abroad and within the country and to support sustainability in Mongolian fine arts by providing market platform for artists. In 2007, the gallery provided exhibition space to 37 artists and took in $11,717 USD. Additionally, sales from the Red Ger Gallery also raise funds for ACM’s Grants Competition, with 30% of its annual proceeds going toward the competition. Arts and Culture Events Calendar 2007
Arts Council of Mongolia is developing and distributing a monthly Arts and Culture event calendar, now in its sixth year, to support and promote Mongolian arts and culture organizations and artists. The calendar is produced in English, and is distribute to over 90 arts and culture organizanions, public service offices, hotels, restaurants and international agencies. In addition, the calendar is distributed broadly to over 350 individual subscribers. In 2007, ACM collaborated with Air Trans Co.,Ltd and has promoted over 20 arts and culture events through the calendar’s Highlight of Month segment. Canadian Modern Dance Performance by Coleman Lemiuex & Compagnie in Mongolia
For the first time ever, pieces by world-reknowned Canadian choreographer James Kudelka In Paradisum and Fifteen Heterosexual Duets were performed in Mongolia in December 2007 as part of a joint project between ACM and Coleman Lemiuex & Compagnie from Montreal, Canada.
14 dancers and accompanying staff from all over Canada and the USA came to Mongolia. In Paradisum was performed in Zuunmod Theater of Tuv Province, and both pieces were performed at the State Opera and Ballet Theater in Ulaanbaatar.
